If I swallow hard enough to forget about my pride, I'll walk around in passing, noticing my faults set against a blinding white backdrop. For all the steps I've made, I'd like a chance to wait and think about the next ones before I throw myself into the floor. I thought the pawns were on my side - I've had a hard enough time just taking all these thorns out of my eyes. Next time, I think I'll wait and then decide.
