He's left a ransom note,
sealed in wax, signed in ink.
But his ancestry was written for him.
Just what they think.

He lights both candles.
The shadows shed smiles,
dulcet crop circles lining those creases of his lips.

He cries at who makes him grin,
but their eyes make saints into disease.
It's the familiar story of wandering eyes that never meet.

So they'll rebuke him for
what genealogy has formed-
rather than a unicorn inspired phobia.

And when pleasure comes
with approval, and candles are ablaze,
his burning martyr will be assured.

But he can never know.
They'll never know.
Flickering fires fading, blinking...

Don't make him say that Heaven hurts.
Why can't he love?
Do they even know?

God doesn't joke that way.
